Cherie Van Zile

Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
Cherie has been a lifelong pet owner, rescue volunteer and advocate, and a caring and compassionate friend to all animals. She has been trying to pet them all since 1977! Prior to fulfilling her dream of opening Wags Walks n Whiskers, she earned a degree in business administration and has worked in many aspects of customer service and office management over the years.
In addition to working and raising a family, Cherie began pet sitting on the side for friends and family members. In 2018 Wags Walks n Whiskers was founded and Cherie made the leap to a career that she is passionate about.
Cherie was born and raised in North Haledon, NJ. Cherie’s hobbies include listening to music and attending concerts, reading and painting. A fun fact~ Cherie became addicted to plants during the pandemic and has varying success keeping them thriving! One day Cherie would like to visit Japan with her youngest son, who says he is moving there one day! There have been countless animals who have made an impact on Cherie’s life over the years, she could not possibly pick just one.

Where is your hometown?
North Haledon, NJ
What inspired you to join our team?
I’ve always loved animals and knew I would enjoy being able to be around them on a daily basis.
What is a fun fact about you?
I’m a former roller derby player and radio DJ
What is a hobby/interest you would like to share?
I love college basketball! UConn is my favorite team (both women’s and men’s) and March Madness is my favorite time of the year!
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
After living in London, UK for a while, I absolutely fell in love with the city. I have been back many times since, but I would still choose to go back.
Tell us about a special pet that holds a place in your heart?
We have a fur baby named Rockstar. He is an 18 year old rescued Chihuahua. He used to be quite the fireball when he was younger, but has settled down in his senior years. He was actually a Valentine’s Day present from my husband. Rock is the gift that keeps on giving. We love him so much!

I am a catcher in four softball leagues.

I love gardening.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Definitely Italy.

A very special Chihuahua named Joey holds a furever place in my heart.
